One of the many quality items for sale at Wray Organics in Cleveland, QLD is Natures Path Organic Mesa Sunrise cereal with flax, corn and amaranth.
The flakes look like corn but the texture is a little different. I found it became soggy very quickly so choose to eat it as a snack without milk or sugar but it also tastes great with agave syrup or honey. A good source of Omega 3 and a great alternative to wheat-based flakes. Another name for flax seed is linseed.
Amaranth is an ancient grain which is used in many cultures.
“Although amaranth was cultivated on a large scale in ancient Mexico, Guatemala, and Peru, nowadays it is only cultivated on a small scale there, along with India, China, Nepal, and other tropical countries… The seeds of Amaranthus species contain about thirty percent more protein than cereals like rice, sorghum and rye.” (Wikipedia page on Amaranth)
